Some two dozen media professionals spent the day in classrooms, in critique sessions, in one-on-one interviews and in special workshops aimed at bringing professional realities home to students. The day culminated in a speech by Scripps Interactive Media President Deanna Brown, which was open to the public.
High School Journalism Workshop
With Foundation funding, 16 high schoolers attended the annual workshop aimed at introducing them to the world of journalism and to the opportunities at the E.W. Scripps School. They participated in either the newspaper or broadcast journalism track, spending time in classrooms, on-site visits and with professionals and faculty. Each student went home with a newspaper or tape of a TV newscast they wrote and produced. .
